Compost Site

The Compost Site, located at 764 Maryland Avenue (next to the Hintz Sports Complex), is open the beginning of April through the last Saturday of November. The site is free of charge to City residents. You will be asked to show identification to verify you are a City of Burlington resident. There is an attendant on site at all times when the site is open.

Hours of operation are:

Saturday - 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Tuesday - 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Accepted Materials

Materials accepted include grass, leaves, garden waste, wood chips and brush. The City will not accept brush or logs greater than 8 inches in diameter. No plastic bags, plastic containers, or foreign debris of any kind. No stumps will be allowed.

Contractors

Contractor’s using the City of Burlington Compost site will be charged a dumping fee as set forth below. Contractors will be required to register at the City Department of Public Works, 2200 S Pine St., Burlington, WI, which will allow the City to bill their business on a monthly basis. An attendant will be on site to verify necessary information and collect data for invoice processing.

Pick up Truck - level with bed: $7
Pick up Truck - mounded: $10
One-ton Truck - level: $10
One-ton Truck mounded: $15
One-ton with side boards (over 1 foot): $20
Trailer (10 feet or less): $15
Trailer over 10 feet: $20
Single Axle: $25
Tandem Axle: $40
