The Park Board consists of seven members, including one Alderperson. The aldermanic member is appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by the Council, at the annual organization meeting in April for a term of two years. Each member is appointed by the Mayor subject to the approval of the Common Council for a three year term.


The Park Board is responsible for management, control, improvement and care for all public parks and parkways within the city, and for the suitable use and enjoyment of the parks. The Park Board has established rules and regulations to promote these purposes. The Park Board is also responsible for acquiring, in the name of the city, property of funds for park purposes.
