Each year the City Assessor, Accurate Appraisal, reviews property assessments and updates the assessment roll according to any changes that occurred during the previous year (i.e. building permits, overall economic market factors, new construction, housing sales, etc.). The full revaluation of all taxable real property in the City of Burlington has been completed. The purpose of the revaluation is to ensure that properties are assessed on a fair and equitable basis as required by state law.
Letters to property owners with their assessment rates were mailed the week of July 13.

Minor errors and misunderstandings can often be corrected by meeting with the assessor without initiating a formal appeal. To be heard by the Board of Review you must first provide written or oral notice of your intent to file an objection to the board with the City Clerk, 300 N. Pine Street or 262-342-1171. This notice must be made at least 48 hours before the board’s first scheduled meeting. You may only appeal the current year’s assessment. The 2020 Board of Review meeting date is August 25 from 4 to 6 p.m.
