Members

Pursuant to § 43.54, Wis. Stats., the Library Board shall consist of seven members appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Common Council for a term of three years.

Responsibilities

The Library Board has the powers and duties set forth in § 43.58, Wis. Stats., including exclusive control of the expenditure of all monies collected, donated or appropriated for the library fund and exclusive charge, control and custody of all lands, buildings, money or other property devised, bequeathed, given or granted to, or otherwise acquired or leased by, the City of Burlington for library purposes.

The Library Board may contract with library organizations to provide or receive library services as set forth in § 43.52, Wis. Stats. The Library Board shall supervise the administration of the Burlington Public Library and shall appoint a Librarian, who shall appoint such other assistants and employees as the Board deems necessary and prescribe their duties and compensation.
